FRESHFARM Markets Celebrates Local Food & Farmers at 8th Annual Farmland Feast

--Sold-Out Event Highlights the Role of Farmers' Markets in Sustaining Local Farms--

WASHINGTON, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by FRESHFARM Markets:

WHAT: FRESHFARM Markets, a nonprofit that operates nine farmers' markets in D.C. and Maryland, hosts its eighth annual Farmland Feast fundraiser celebrating the newest FRESHFARM Market by the White House -- opened by First Lady Michelle Obama -- the "Double Dollars" initiative for food assistance shoppers, and the donation of over 10,000 pounds of farm fresh food to emergency food providers, in addition to supporting over 90 farms in the Chesapeake Bay region.

The five-course autumnal Feast on November 9th will be prepared by thirteen talented and dedicated chefs who will spotlight delicious fresh, local foods. A seasonal cocktail created by Square One Botanical will be featured at the reception. For the meal, each course will be paired with a selection of local wines.

All proceeds benefit FRESHFARM Markets in its efforts to preserve family farms, bring fresh food into cities, educate children about our food systems and provide financial assistance at market to Food Stamp, WIC and Senior Coupon recipients.

WHO: Award-winning Chef Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve, Eammon's and The Majestic chairs the chef committee for the Farmland Feast. He is joined by coordinating Feast Chef David Seres of The Ritz-Carlton Washington, D.C. The 13 participating chefs are: Gerard Craft of Niche Restaurant-St. Louis, Jamie Leeds of Hank's Oyster Bar & CommonWealth Gastropub, Tim Miller of Mie N Yu, Ron Tanaka of Cork Wine Bar, Joe Palma of West End Bistro, John Mathieson of Inox, Julien Jouhannaud of Adour, Bob Kinkead of Kinkead's, JG Huff of Hell Point Seafood, Bryan Voltaggio of Volt and Top Chef , Peter Smith of PS7, Susan Limb & Patrick Musel of Praline Bakery & Bistro.
