Juventus claim Paul Pogba wanted to leave at all costs

United academy graduate Pogba established himself as one of the world's biggest names during a four-year spell at Juventus before the Red Devils re-signed him for £89m in the summer transfer window.

Juventus wanted to hold onto their star man but he was desperate to head back to Old Trafford.

"He arrived from United and after four years with us he decided to return to England," Marotta said at Juventus' AGM.

"He wanted to leave at all costs.

"We didn't want to sell him.

"We wanted him to put roots down at Juventus."

Giuseppe Marotta spilled the beans on Paul Pogba's move to Manchester United

United broke the global transfer record to bring Pogba back but his agent Mino Raiola turned out to be the real winner.

"The price tag we asked was €105m (£94m) plus €5m (£4.5m) bonus in the case that the player renews his contract with the club or is sold for more than €50m (£45m)," Marotta said.

Jose Mourinho splashed out a world-record £89m fee for Paul Pogba

"We made around €95m (£85m).

"Mino Raiola, his representative, will be paid €27m (£24m).

"Net of fees the profit on Pogba is around €72m (£64.5m)."
