If you're looking to show off your team spirit this week as the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans get set to duke it out on the football field, Elite Mr. Alan's has you covered.
If you act fast, that is.
The Redford-based retailer known for its hard-to-get sneakers has come out with a pair of limited-release jackets -- one in support of each university -- that will hit shelves at five of its southeastern Michigan locations Friday.
Elite Mr. Alan's brand ambassador, Ty Mopkins, who collaborated with Starter to design the satin throwback jackets, said they won't last long if the past is any indication.
A year ago, when the retailer released similarly designed jackets for the first time, they sold out in a hurry.
"Last year we sold out within two hours. (We) sold over 300 jackets within two hours," Mopkins said. "And this year we released them last week, but then held some back and now we're re-releasing them (Friday), just in time for the game."
The jackets will be available in limited quantities at Elite Mr. Alan's locations in Ann Arbor, Redford, Southfield and at two Detroit locales -- Gateway and Harbortown.
Mopkins said the best bet would be to snatch one from the retailer's online store, mralans.com.
The jackets, which retail at $149 apiece, were designed with inspiration from the Spartans and Wolverines squads of the early '70s to mid-'80s, Mopkins said.
