Georgia’s interest in Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural products

Bishkek, Nov. 29, 2017. /Kabar/.Georgia is interested in supplying agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic press service reported.

Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Artem Novikov met with Ambassador of Georgia to the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Zurab Abashidze in Astana

In recent years, both trade and economic relations and cooperation at the political level are actively developing Novikov said. The first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in the spring of 2016 in Tbilisi.

The Minister expressed the hope that in the near future both sides will be able to carry out work on the implementation of the agreements reached at the Inter Governmental Commission (IGC) meeting.

The sides positively pointed out that the signing of the Agreements: on the promotion and protection of investments, on avoidance of double taxation between the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Georgia, is the main base on which the entrepreneurs of both countries are currently working.

Kyrgyz side also highlighted about governmental large-scale project on digital transformation of the country "Taza Koom" (Pure Society). In this regard, the Kyrgyzstan will welcome the attraction of investments from Georgia in this direction, said Novikov.

In turn, the ambassador said that the Georgian side is interested in supplying agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan, in particular dried fruits and beans. The Georgia is ready to supply mineral water, wine to Kyrgyzstan.. The ambassador also noted that in recent years the tourist flow to Georgia is growing.

Abashidze stressed that Georgia is an example in the region of fighting corruption and crime. Based on rating of doing business, Georgia moved from 16th place to 9th place. The ambassador also talked about recent opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which connects Azerbaijan, Georgia and TurkeyThis railway reduces the freight for 15 days (October 30, 2017)

As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to start developing materials on preparations for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in 2018.
