NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A St. Pauls High School teacher has been named one of the top agricultural educators in the United States.

Jason Bullock was one of six people nationwide to receive the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award, given on Dec. 6 at the National Association of Agricultural Educators annual convention in Nashville.

Bullock has expanded agricultural education at St. Pauls, creating a three-teacher program that offers courses in animal science, horticulture, and environmental and natural resources.

“I chose to teach high school because I feel that it is a pivotal developmental stage in the psyche of a student where they can drastically see changes as a person and find the path they desire to pursue in life,” Bullock said.

Each of the six regional Outstanding Teacher Award winners was recognized at the NAAE convention in Nashville. The Outstanding Teacher Award is sponsored by Caterpillar Inc. and Tractor Supply Company as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

The NAAE, whose headquarters are in Lexington, Ky., is the professional organization for agricultural educators. It provides its nearly 8,000 members with professional networking and development opportunities, professional liability coverage, and extensive awards and recognition programs.
