Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, October 8
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
The state procurement prices for wheat and cotton will be increased in Turkmenistan in 2019, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper wrote October 8. The corresponding decree has been signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
It is expected that "the proposed measure, as well as the establishment of incentive payments for the production of high quality seeds, will contribute to the incitement of the aspiration of rural workers to obtain good results."
This year, it has been planned to produce 1.6 million tons of grain and 1.050 million tons of cotton in Turkmenistan. About 760,000 hectares of land are traditionally allocated for grain, 545,000 hectares - for cotton. It was reported earlier that the decree "On the further improvement of reforms in the agricultural sector" was also signed.
The land plots from the newly created special land fund will be allocated for use for up to 99 years to communities of Turkmenistan, peasant farms, other legal entities and citizens (hereinafter - commodity producers).
At least 70 percent of these land plots must be planted with wheat, cotton, and other crops for delivery to the state.
The producers can keep to themselves or deliver to the state at the state procurement prices the surplus of products grown under a state assignment, in excess of contractual obligations, on the land plots allocated from a special land fund.
