Bishkek, Sept.3, 2019. /Kabar/. Bishkek hosts discussion of issues related to improvement of agricultural statistics: monitoring of food security, formation of food balances and exchange of experience in organization of agricultural statistics in CIS countries.
On the first day the participants considered methodological aspects of the development of a system of indicators for monitoring and evaluating food security in the CIS countries, taking into account the indicators of achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This topic will be addressed by experts of the CIS Statistical Committee, as well as Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
Besides, the issues related to the formation of balances of the most important types of foodstuffs, as well as the organization of interaction of national statistical services with national ministries and agencies were considered. Representatives of the CIS Statistical Committee and statistical services of Azerbaijan, Belarus and Kazakhstan will speak on these issues.
During the second day representatives of statistical services of Tajikistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Turkmenistan will take part in further consideration of issue of formation of balances of the most important types of foodstuffs.
The regular 60th meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of CIS member states, chaired by Head of the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Sultanov, will be held on the final day, Sept. 5.
The meeting will consider the work of the CIS Statistical Committee on the organization of monitoring of SDG indicators in the CIS region and the report on the activities of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services and the work of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee in 2018.
