Prog rockers Kansas announced as first headliners of NJ Lottery Festival of Ballooning

Kansas, the progressive rock band whose hits include “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind,” are the first announced headliners of the 2022 New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning, set for July 29 to 31 at Solberg Airport in Readington.   

They're set to play July 31 on the fest's main stage. Festival presale tickets, beginning at $24, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan 14. for those on the festival mailing list and 72 hours later for the general public. Visit balloonfestival.com for more information.

The show is a de facto homecoming for Kansas member Tom Brislin. The Dunellen native joined the band in 2018 after stints with Yes and Meat Loaf.

The Festival of Ballooning features 100 colorful balloons filling the sky, concerts, family entertainment and attractions, fireworks, food and more. More than 175,000 attended last year, a record for the event.

More musical acts will be announced.

Kansas is on its “Point of Know Return” tour, which includes a Friday, Feb. 25, show at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. Tickets, $49 to $125, are on sale now via thebasie.org.
