Hero passersby rescue a driver and his dog from a semi truck after it crashed into a barrier and burst into flames

A semi truck crashed into a traffic barrier in a Kansas City suburb on Wednesday.
Vern Henning and an unknown man stopped on the interstate to pull the driver and his dog out of the burning wreckage.
The video was tweeted by Overland Park police chief Frank Donchez. It shows the moment the truck veers into the right-side barrier at 11.30am.
The impact sends the semi airborne. It bursts into flames on landing. Thick black smoke fills the road as the crumpled vehicle burns.

The driver was trapped in the burning vehicle. Other drivers quickly reacted and helped him escape the cab.
John Henning told FOX 4 his wife Vern and another driver stopped to help, while other cars drove right by through the thick smoke.
They pulled the semi driver and his dog out of the truck, the husband said. The driver had a few burn marks, but appeared to be okay otherwise.
According to the station, this is the third fiery crash along that stretch of highway in the last five weeks. The area is currently a work zone.
