What did Jeenbekov offer Erdogan for strengthening bilateral relations? - results of negotiations

Ankara, Apr. 10, 2018. / Kabar /. On the first day of the two-day official visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Ankara, the negotiations were held yesterday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in narrow and extended formats.

The Presidents discussed many aspects of bilateral cooperation in energy, transport, agriculture, health, inter-parliamentary cooperation, culture and education, as well as issues of attracting investments. The heads of state stressed the potential of the parties to increase the trade turnover up to $ 1 billion a year.

Jeenbekov proposed to intensify the cooperation of the Chambers of Commerce, create a Business Council between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, and noted the positive work of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey (TIKA), which makes a significant contribution to Kyrgyzstan's social projects.

The Kyrgyz President noted the positive cooperation with Turkey in the sphere of health, culture, sport. He invited the Turkish side to participate in the Third World Nomad Games in Issyk-Kul in Sept. of this year.

In addition, the head of state noted that 2018 was declared by the international organization of Turkic culture (TURKSOY) the year of great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov and expressed confidence that the Turkish side will take part in the events dedicated to the writer's anniversary.

Erdogan said that TIKA will take an active part in the implementation of projects under the Decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan on the announcement of 2018 as the Year of Regional Development.

During the bilateral meetings, Erdogan assured that Turkey has always supported the democratic development of Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of relations between the two republics.

Today, on Apr. 10, President Jeenbekov will meet with the leaders of the Kyrgyz diaspora in Turkey, as well as with Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and Speaker of the Great National Assembly Ismail Kahraman.
