On Saturday, tails in Berthoud will be wagging as the sixth annual Hops and Harley event will offer craft beer, live music, food trucks, vendors and a whole lot of puppy love.
The free event invites leashed dogs and their humans to enjoy the festivities in the name of Harley’s Dream, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness about commercial dog breeding, or “puppy mills.”
The event, at Fickel Park, will feature musical acts South to Cedars and the Wendy Woo Band.
Admission is free and goers are welcome to bring picnic baskets, blankets and chairs for the 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. event.
The event honors Harley, a Chihuahua who barely survived the puppy mill process and inspired many to think twice about where they sourced four-legged loved ones.
Harley spent the first 10 years of his life in a puppy mill cage, and had several health issues as a result.
Hops for Harley combines with Hogs for Hops and Harley, a motorcycle ride that will leave Mile High Harley-Davidson, 16565 E. 33rd Drive in Aurora, at 9 a.m. Those who wish to register can do so at milehigh-harley.com/–6th-annual-hops-and-harley.
Shoes and Brews Dog Jog will start at 10:30 a.m.; $15 will earn runners a dog bandanna, treat, a beer and additional funds toward Harley’s Dream. For details, visit citystarbrewing.com/events/event/shoes-brews-dog-jog.
Attending food trucks include Curbed Hunger, Summit Tacos, G-Spot Noshery, Sweaty Moose, Trattoria Oreganata, Sammy’s Cheese Curds, Kettle Drum, Suburban Wiener and Tim’s Italian Ice.
Glass of Art will offer two painting classes this year during the festival. Reserve a canvas to paint Angel Harley or Colorado Sunflower at coloradoboxoffice.com/organizations/glass-of-art.
The Berthoud Farmer and Fleas Tailgate Market will also take place at Fickel Park at the same time.
