Bishkek, Aug. 14, 2018 / Kabar /. A new play is being prepared based on Chyngyz Aitmatov's latest novel “When the Mountains Fall” in the Chui regional theater named after Sharshen Termechikov

According to the theater's director Orozbek Aydarov, the premiere of the play will take place in September 2018, that is, on the threshold of the jubilee celebrations dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the writer.

Chyngyz Aitmatov was a Soviet and Kyrgyz author who wrote in both Russian and Kyrgyz. His works were translated into more than 150 languages.

In addition to his literary work Aitmatov was the Kyrgyzstan ambassador to the European Union, Nato, Unesco, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, and spent many years in Brussels.

Aitmatov’s novel When the Mountains Fall (Eternal Bride) is about tragic paths of two suffering creatures - man and leopard. Both are victims of time, victims of circumstances, hostages of their own destiny. The desire for revenge leads Arsen Samanchin, a well-known journalist, to his native village, where hunting for snow leopards is organized for the Saudi oil tycoons... The hero comes to the mountains, not yet knowing that he will meet his last love and perhaps death.
