Ross, Rova Lead Fiji’s Campaign
Netani Ross and Rosemarie Rova will captain the 36-member Fijian Swimming team to the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships which starts on Thursday at the Damodar Aquatic Centre, Suva.
They were named during the Fiji Swimming welcome dinner at the Albert Park conference room last night.
Netani Ross, 17, said he was expecting to be named captain and aims to reach the top 16 during the championship.
“I maybe be young and I know half the team personally that should be an advantage as well,” Ross said.
“As a captain, with my experience representing the country my role will be to encourage the team to perform.
“We are a young team, we are still developing and majority of the swimmers this is their first time representing the country here but we have the home ground advantage.”
Rova, 15, said this is a comeback year for her and she is looking to get a personal best.
“It takes a lot of dedication, not just me but everyone that is in this team.
“You separate yourself from your social life and sacrifice everything just to train in the early hours,” she said.
