WCGA Looking for Corn Yield Contest Entries
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/21/2018

The Wisconsin Corn Growers Association wants to recognize top-yielding corn production from farmers throughout the state once again this year by holding its third annual Corn Yield Contest. Program coordinators say entry in the competition is free, but farmers must be members of WCGA and can only submit one entry per member.

To be eligible, participants must be WCGA members in good standing and the contest entry must be from a field of corn 10 or more acres in size of one variety. The contest area may be any shape, but the contest plot must be a total of 1.25 or more harvested acres.

First, second and third-place cash prizes will be awarded in each of six geographical divisions. The top winners in each of the categories will receive $500, $250 and $100, respectively.

At harvest, corn yields must be verified for the contest by either a county agent or a professional agricultural consultant and can be confirmed by using a weigh wagon or truck scale. A harvest form must be submitted to be considered for a prize and will be sent to everyone requesting an entry form, which is due to the Wisconsin Corn Program by December 31.

A simple one-page entry form is available from the Wisconsin Corn Program Office by calling 262-372-3289.
