WGMD Fishing Report 11-17-18

The gale force winds of Thursday and Friday did lay down as advertised, but the dirty water they left behind made for some difficult fishing on Saturday.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle the report was a complete disappearance of the small rockfish that had been hanging out around the Coast Guard Station during nighttime hours.  Where fish had been caught on just about every cast on bucktails and speck rigs none were caught during the last outgoing current.

Lauren at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said several boats sailed on Saturday, but the only one that returned with any fish was the Miss Ene II.  They managed to find 20 black sea bass.

Another long suffering project that will not use any fishing license money is the boat ramp at 7th Street in Wilmington.  This project will be paid for with money awarded to Delaware from fines levied after an oil spill in the Delaware River.  Some of that money was earmarked for a recreational project and this is the one they settled on.  The ramp will provide access to the Brandywine and Christina rivers.
