SSP America captures new F&B contract at Bermuda L.F. Wade International

BERMUDA. SSP America has been awarded a food & beverage contract at Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport.

The travel F&B specialist has released details of three new venues which will open next year in a joint venture with Bermudian entrepreneurs Dennie O’Connor and Jennifer Turini Ysseldyke, named Bermuda Travel Concessions.

They will be situated in the new passenger terminal building, part of a wider redevelopment project at Bermuda’s only airport.

The Whistling Rum Bar & Grill will be one of three businesses operated by the joint venture Bermuda Travel Concessions

SSP said that the bars and restaurants have been designed specifically for the new terminal and will reflect Bermuda’s rich culinary landscape and culture as well as the island’s position as a premier holiday destination.

The full service Whistling Rum Bar & Grill will be situated landside in the departures check-in area. Its signature dishes include Jerk Roasted Chicken, Fish Tacos, Fish Chowder and Warm Rum Cake. A diverse line-up of beers, international wines, champagnes and cocktails will also be on offer.

Meanwhile, the Rock & Barrel Gastro Bar – located in the US departures area – is a full-service facility offering Bermudian cocktails, local and international brews and cuisine associated with Bermuda.

The Heron & the Sea Public House, situated in the international departures area, will specialise in seafood dishes including Fish Chowder, Seared George Bank Scallops, Blackened Wahoo and Shrimp Kebabs with Guava BBQ Sauce. Wines, beers and classic Bermudian cocktails are also on offer in a venue which features an open-air terrace with views of the runway and the Bermuda surroundings.

The new venues will feature in a new terminal which hosts 29,000sq m of space on two floors

SSP America Senior Director of Business Development Kyle Phillips, said: “The Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport team sought an elevated experience for its passengers, and SSP America answered the call. Our strategy was to deliver the ‘taste of place’ for which we’re known as well as unsurpassed operational know-how.”

Skyport is the operator Bermuda L.F. Wade International. Its President Aaron Adderley said: “Creating interesting, high quality restaurants that will resonate with passengers travelling through the L.F. Wade International Airport was a top priority for us. We are excited to partner with SSP America and look forward to launching these three new elevated dining experiences next year when we open the new passenger terminal building.”
