Fishing industry rep seat opening at NPRB

Nominations will be accepted by the North Pacific Research Board to fill the fishing industry seat that becomes available for a three-year term starting June 1, pending approval and appointment by the Secretary of Commerce. The deadline to submit nominations or self-nominations is April 15.

The NPRB board was created by Congress to recommend marine research activities to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, to be supported by earnings of the Environmental Improvement and Restoration Fund. The NPRB promotes a comprehensive science program of the highest caliber to increase understanding of the North Pacific Ocean, Bering Sea and Arctic Ocean ecosystems and their fisheries. Priority is given to cooperative research projects that are designed to address pressing fishery management or marine ecosystem information needs.
