The Andersonville Farmers Market returns May 12 - Oct. 20

CHICAGO (April 20, 2021) — The Andersonville Farmers Market (AFM) is pleased to return for its 12th season on Wednesdays from 3 — 7 pm from May 12 — October 20, 2021 on Catalpa Ave. between Clark St. and Ashland Ave. Featuring more than 25 vendors, AFM will continue to operate as a hybrid market in 2021, giving shoppers the option of shopping in person or ordering in advance for pick-up. City and state COVID-19 protocols will remain in place to keep vendors, customers, staff and volunteers safe.

AFM is excited to welcome six new vendors this year including Andersonville Fine Foods (rotating, spiced and sweet nuts mixes), Empoli Delights, (rotating, fresh pastas, sauces and flavored butters), NutMeg's Nut Butters (starting in June, nut butters), Sheekar Delights (rotating, seasonally flavored baklava), Vangies Farm (organic produce, flowers) and WasteNot Compost (compost, worm castings).

Returning vendors include Breadman Baking Co. (focaccia, bread, cookies), Downstate Donuts LLC (now every week, potato donuts), First Slice Pie Café (pie and pesto), Gray Farms (organic produce), Green Fire Farm (grass-fed beef, lamb and pork; pasture-raised poultry and eggs), Hardin's Family Farm (fruits, vegetables, plant starts, cider), Hillside Orchards (fruit, chestnuts, preserves), Karl's Craft Soup (seasonal soups), Katherine Anne Confections (rotating, artisanal chocolates, caramels, marshmallows), Letizia's Natural Bakery (Sorano, inc) (baked goods, mini pizzas, fresh pasta/gnocchi, flour), Lost Larson (bread, baked goods, flour) Nichols Farm (vegetables, fruits, plant starts), Pecking Order (Filipino street food to be reheated/eaten at home), Phoenix Bean (tofu products, mung bean sprouts, soy milk), Piscasaw Gardens (veggies, Mirai sweet corn, flowers), River Valley Ranch (organic mushrooms and other veggies; jarred and prepared foods) Sfera (arancini — stuffed rice balls — to be reheated/eaten at home), Stamper Cheese, Twidley Bits (rotating, jams, fruit butters, pickled items, vegan cheeses) and Wild Coyote Farm (organic produce).

Everything sold at the Andersonville Farmers Market is grown or produced within a 200-mile radius, offering the community access to fresh, local food.

2021 Shopping Options

Walk up and shop between 3 pm — 7 pm. Please note: 3 pm — 3:30 pm is reserved for 60+/at-risk shoppers only.

Pre-order on the WhatsGood app or website. The online market opens at noon on Thursdays for the following week and closes at 11 pm on Mondays. Choose a time slot and pick up purchases from individual vendors at the market on Wednesday. All pre-orders must be picked up by 7 pm. Please note: 3 pm — 3:30 pm is reserved for 60+/at-risk shoppers to pick-up orders — it's not necessary for members of this group to designate a pick-up time.

The market is continuing its Link matching program, matching up to $25/week for Link cardholders. Shoppers using SNAP benefits can also pre order through WhatsGood but must register first. For more information on the Link program, please visit andersonvillemarket.org .

Link Up Illinois is making healthy, local, farm-fresh foods more affordable and accessible by doubling the value of Link purchases at farmers markets, farm stands, food co-ops, and independent grocery and corner stores across Illinois. Staying COVID Safe

In order to prioritize health and safety for all customers and vendors during the COVID-19 pandemic, AFM will continue to follow city, state and CDC protocols. Safety guidelines require all customers and vendors to be symptom free, wear masks and observe six-foot social distancing. Pre-orders should be picked up during designated time slots only. Use of credit or debit cards or Venmo is encouraged. A hand sanitizing station will be available at the market entrances and market booth, and vendor booths will be periodically disinfected. All vendors are required to have hand sanitizer and tables for contactless pick up. No pets allowed.
