2021 Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction & Dinner

The 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction & Dinner was held as a private event at NRG Center today. Enthusiastic supporters gathered for the annual event, where winning wines from the 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition were auctioned.

The 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition Grand Champion Best of Show sold for $200,000. Alexander Valley Vineyards CYRUS, Alexander Valley, 2014, was purchased by Lisa Blackwood, Randa and Ray Gilliam, Julie and Alan Kent, and Kristina and Paul Somerville. Alexander Valley Vineyards is a four-time winner in the Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition.

“It is an honor to be involved in this organization and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to fund scholarships this year,” said Lisa Blackwood. “We are really excited to be here for the kids.”

This year’s Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show, Le Chemin Du Roi Brut, Champagne AOC, NV, was launched by famed rapper and business mogul, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Demetra and Frank Jones, and Leticia and Stephen Trauber, purchased the wine for $160,000.

“When they told me I won, I almost fainted. I was really excited,” said Jackson. “I am very proud of this.”

The 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition drew more than 2,600 entries from 18 countries, including Argentina, France, Italy and Spain. Texas wines represented 346 entries, and 351 entries were received from this year’s featured region, Sonoma County, California.
