NPFMC says October/December meetings will be virtual

Leaders of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council have decided, due to current rapid COVID-19 transmission, to hold all meetings of the council, advisory panel and scientific and statistics committee virtually through the end of 2021.

Alaska’s COVID-19 transmission rate is high, and projected to remain so through November, and the resilience of the local medical infrastructure is significantly impacted, the council noted on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, council staff will evaluate longer-term planning options for 2022 to resume in-person or hybrid meetings and report on those options in October. The group’s fall meeting will still be held from Sept. 30-Oct.15.

The agenda, schedule and a list of when documents will be available is now posted online at www.npfmc.org along with more detailed information.
