Bear Spotted in Bükk Hills

MTI-Hungary Today 2022.06.27.

A bear was spotted in the Bükk Hills recently, and the animal was caught on a wildlife camera.

On Friday, Egererdő Forestry Zrt. announced on its Facebook page that a wildlife camera near the Pes-kő captured an image of a European brown bear on Thursday morning.

The forestry group informed the local authorities of the area and the Directorate of the Bükk National Park about the sighting. It was pointed out that visitors to the forest can read more about the recommended rules of behavior in the national park’s information leaflet.

The forestry workers, in cooperation with the national park, are constantly monitoring the area. If the bears are sighted again, they will inform the population, the Heves County Forestry Department said.

As we have also reported, a brown bear was spotted a month ago on the outskirts of Acsa in Pest county. At the time, experts from the Pilis Park Forest and the Directorate of the Danube-Ipoly National Park advised that no one should approach the animal, avoid sudden movements and eye contact, and leave the area slowly.
