Talk of the Town is Society’s round-up of some of the best north-east food and drink deals, specials and hotspots on offer every week.

In need of some spice this winter? This new Aberdeen restaurant should have just the ticket…

Gidi Grill

Bringing its sensational spice up from Dundee is the brand new Gidi Grill restaurant on Aberdeen’s Union Street.

The venue’s West African flavours are full of variety and it won’t take long to make an impact with Aberdonian foodies.

Favourite dishes include jollof rice and jerk barbecue pork belly, as well as its excellent grilled chicken.

Service also comes with a wide smile here. Not to be missed.

Mo’s Fusion

Another restaurant poised to make marks in the north-east is Mo’s Fusion on Queen Street, Peterhead.

Low-fat dishes give this restaurant healthy appeal. But fussy eaters will also love this place.

Everything from pizza to burgers as well as traditional curries are available on the restaurant’s dual menu.

A festive menu is also on the cards and worth keeping an eye out for.

The Glentanar Bar

Tucked at the fringes of Aberdeen’s city centre is The Glentanar Bar on Holburn Street.

This venue is a gorgeous sight on a dark wintry night with its decorative lights dazzling out onto the street.

Inside, the self-confessed ‘ludicrously dog-friendly bar’ stocks a fine range of whiskies, gins, cocktails and local beers.

Oh, and its food looks pretty good too!

The Pigs Wings

If you’re looking for food with a dash of personality in Aberdeen, The Pigs Wings on Upperkirkgate is where to find it.

This venue has been going from strength to strength since opening back in 2018. Its burgers are the star of the show, with super succulent meat that’s just irresistible.

Colourful artwork decks the walls inside and the music selections are also very nice.

Al Fresco

Al Fresco on Aberdeen’s Bon-Accord Street (formerly known as Aperitivo), is a fuss-free, art-deco style Italian that’s worth your attention.

Food comes at very fair prices here. Its elegantly presented dishes mainly focus on the flavours of southern Italian cuisine, while the varied wine list also includes some regional favourites.

Perfect for couples or a catch up with friends.
