Tilapia is not only produced for local consumption but also for the purpose of exports, especially to the United States. It is exported in the form of fillets.
Rahayu, frequently known as Tebe, also noted that the tilapia cultivation business currently remains one of the businesses that several Indonesians are interested in.
This is since managing the cultivation is relatively easy, and the species has good immunity against diseases.
Tilapia is one of the fish species resilient to diseases, and raising them only takes about three to four months, he explained.
"This commodity is very suitable for the cultivation business because it is very promising, and the opportunity to make a profit is bigger," he elaborated.
Meanwhile, Marine Affairs and Fishery Minister Wahyu Trenggono also noted through the statement that the ministry will develop a pilot project of 10 integrated advanced fishing villages located around fishery zones.
