World No Tobacco Day 2023: Famous personalities who succumbed due to tobacco

World No Tobacco Day is observed annually on May 31 across the world. The annual event educates the public about the hazards of tobacco use and the business practises of tobacco companies.

New Delhi: The Tobacco epidemic is one of the greatest hazards to public health the world has ever faced, killing over 8 million people annually, including approximately 1.2 million due to exposure to second-hand smoke. All forms of tobacco are hazardous, and there is no secure level of tobacco exposure. Cigarette smoking is the most prevalent form of tobacco use throughout the globe. Ahead of World No Tobacco Day 2023, let us have a look at famous personalities who succumbed to lung or throat cancer.

Firoz Khan: Renowned Firoz Khan, also called the cowboy of Bollywood, died due to lung cancer on April 27, 2009.

Desi Arnoz: Cuban-born American actor Desi Arnoz, who suffered lung cancer, died on December 2, 1986.

Humphrey Bogart: American film and stage actor Humphrey Bogart died at the age of 57 after suffering from throat cancer.

Richard Boone: American actor Richard Boone died due to complications from throat cancer on January 14, 1957.
