Czech government opposes emissions trading for household heating, says Výborný

The Czech government does not support extending emissions trading to household heating, as proposed by the EU from 2027, Agriculture Minister Marek Výborný (Christian Democrats) stated on CNN Prima News. He emphasized that households would not bear the cost of such measures, opposing the new ETS II system, which also includes emissions pricing for road transport fuels. Former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO Party) recently called for the Green Deal to be scrapped, while Výborný argued for a balanced approach to ensure European competitiveness. Babiš and his party blamed the current government for high energy prices, which Výborný countered as being near the EU average. The debate highlighted differing strategies for addressing energy costs and the Green Deal.
