A RARE job opportunity is up for grabs for a family to relocate to a 'beautiful' Scots island.

Colonsay Estate is hunting for a general farm worker, to take over and manage its 3,000 hectares of land.

Home to 1,500 ewes, and 80 cows - the lucky applicant is expected to have plenty of experience with livestock and on farms.

The position would also include relocating to the stunning Isle of Colonsay, in the Inner Hebrides.

The island has a population of just 124, and is connected to the mainland via a regular ferry service, and a small air strip.

Depending on experience, the job will pay between £24,000 and £26,000.

The successful applicant will have to carry out duties including gathering, and dosing sheep, feeding cows, tractor/forklift driving, and maintaining machinery and farming equipment.

Benefits of the job include the previously mentioned housing for the family, a company pension, and on-site parking.

The job listing reads: "We are looking for a general farm worker/tractor driver/maintenance person to live and work on a beautiful Scottish island in the Inner Hebrides, Isle of Colonsay, with a small but vibrant local community.

“You will be working as part of a team under a Farm Manager on the Colonsay Estate farms and under an Estate Manager on Colonsay Estate.

“The farms have approximately 1,500 ewes and 80 suckler cows.

"The estate covers around 3,000 hectares.”
