Each month, we tap a Southwest Florida design luminary to share their most compelling global inspirations. This time, we step into the world of Christian Busk, the landscape architect behind Busk & Associates, a longtime orchestrator of the coast’s finest outdoor spaces. In October 2024, he expanded his creative reach with 41 Home & Garden in the Naples Design District. The shop is an extension of a passion honed over decades.
Christian’s eye for design began in childhood, tagging along with his parents to estate auctions in West Palm Beach. Over the past 40 years, he has quietly built a collection of pieces sourced from around the globe, all while designing homes and businesses for friends who trusted his refined sensibility. His aesthetic blends natural landscapes with curated interiors, fusing vintage influences, sculptural modernism and architectural precision.
For his Gulfshore Life design edit, the landscape architect selected five striking pieces—from a lacquered postmodern dining table to jewel-toned crystal lighting that doubles as art. Each reflects his sharp eye for balance, materiality and timeless form with an edge.

The Portuguese brand HOMMÉS Studio’s 7-foot-wide, circular dining table in acts as a bold foil to contemporary gray and beige palettes. Five sculptural legs add stability and artistic flair. “It’s very architectural with a nod to postmodern design,” says Christian, who suggests styling the vibrant centerpiece with tufted chairs to soften the sleek, glossy, cherry-red finish. hommes.studio

Evoking pebble-strewn shores, this jewel box assortment of hand-blown crystal pendants was crafted for customization. Different shapes and opacities of multicolored glass can be mixed, matched and arranged in a column over a cylindrical LED light source, illuminating the entire structure. “It’s lighting, but it’s art,” Christian says. “Color, dimension, sculpture—it’s everything all in one.” Adding to the organic feel, the made-to-order fixtures embrace the natural imperfections of hand-blown glass. Dangle a series of pendants in varying lengths to add dimension to soaring ceilings, or stack them to create a whimsical floor lamp. bomma.cz

“The long floating ledge with a cushion is just dreamy,” Christian says of Italian-Lebanese designer Jwana Hamdan’s low-rise outdoor sofa. The piece blends contemporary Italian modularity with the hospitable nature of Arabic majlis—traditional sitting areas lined with low sofas and floor cushions to foster conviviality. With bountiful cushions upholstered in water-repellent fabric on a durable iroko wood frame, the sofa extends interior comfort to outdoor living spaces. jwanahamdan.com
