A potato chip brand recalled in February just received a new health risk level update from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
On Feb. 27, Coyote Valley Sour Cream & Onion Chips were recalled due to higher sodium amounts than stated on the bag’s label, according to the FDA. The agency received 3,005 cases with 20 bags of chips per case, which prompted the recall of 60,100 bags of chips in total.
The health risk was updated on March 12, when the FDA classified the recall as a Class II. This classification means the product may have caused temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, the agency stated on its website.
Class II recalls also mean that the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.
Bags of Coyote Valley Sour Cream & Onion Chips were distributed to Texas, Ohio and Nevada.
Uncle Rays, LLC, based in Montgomery City, Missouri, is the named recalling firm, while the chip brand is distributed by Food Express USA in Dallas, Texas.
