Chomps beef stick fans, review your snack supply. Nearly 30,000 pounds of the brand’s ready-to-eat snacks are part of a recall after consumers found metal pieces in the product.

Idaho Smokehouse Partners prompted the recall of roughly 29,541 pounds of “Chomps Original Beef Stick Mild” after there were two consumer complaints of metal pieces discovered in the product, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The product subject to recall was produced between Jan. 13 and Jan. 15, 2025. The items in the recall were sent to retailers in California and Illinois.

As of yet, no injuries have been reported, but FSIS expressed concern that some products could currently be in consumers’ pantries.

Idaho Smokehouse Partners issued a statement regarding the recall in a statement to TODAY.com.

“Once Idaho Smokehouse Partners became aware of the two complaints, out of an abundance of caution, we worked with regulatory authorities on the best way to protect consumers from this issue,” it reads. “We are taking this action because we are committed to the highest food safety standards for the consumers of our products.”

In a statement to TODAY.com, Chomps said it "voluntarily recalled select lots" of its original beef sticks and original turkey 1.15-oz sticks.

"Through a comprehensive investigation with our manufacturing partner and under USDA oversight, all products packaged during this timeframe have been identified and are included in this recall," the statement reads in part.

"While no injuries have been reported, we take every concern seriously and acted quickly to ensure all potentially affected products were immediately pulled from the market. Additionally, Chomps is taking immediate and long-term actions to further strengthen our food safety and quality control measures. Quality and safety matter more to us than anything else, and we remain committed to doing right by our customers."

In its announcement, FSIS urged consumers to contact healthcare providers if they are concerned that they might have sustained an injury while eating the product.
