ARKANSAS COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT/KARK) – Round two of a trade war between the U.S. and China is just beginning, and one agricultural economist warns it could look a lot like round one for some Arkansas farmers.

According to our content partner KARK, soybeans are Arkansas' top agricultural export.

In the last trade war, China cut its imports of soybeans from the U.S. by more than half.

“What we’ll see is an excess of supply with very little exports to go to, and even if we diversify those export markets, it’s still not going to make up for the amount we normally send to China,” said University of Arkansas Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics Ryan Loy.
