GALLATIN COUNTY, Mont. – The Montana Department of Livestock confirmed avian influenza in a backyard poultry flock in Gallatin County. The flock reportedly lost six birds within 24 hours.

This marks Montana's first detection of the domestic poultry infection in 2025, adding to the state's 30th infection since the nationwide outbreak began in 2022.

The Department of Livestock emphasized the importance of biosecurity measures to prevent further spread of the disease. Residents are urged to report any sudden bird deaths or signs of illness to local authorities.
