Nearly 30,000 pounds of beef sticks made by Idaho Smokehouse Partners and sold at retailers including Costco have been recalled because they might contain pieces of metal.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the recall includes 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packages of Chomps Original Beef Sticks in the “mild” variety. Affected products are marked with an expiration date of 02-10-2026 and lot code 25016.
At least two customers reported finding metal in the snacks, though no injuries have been reported.
In all, 29,541 pounds of the beef sticks have been recalled.
The company reported the beef sticks had been distributed to retail locations California and Illinois, but they might have been sold more widely in stores.
Costco, for example, posted to its website that it was pulling the products from locations in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
The Agriculture Department said the products should be thrown away or returned to the store where they were purchased.
