Havana (VNA) – A delegation from the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam, led by Deputy Prosecutor General Lieut. Gen. Ta Quang Khai, attended the 16th International Conference on Forensic Science and the 4th International Conference on Rule of Law, Law, and Society in Havana, Cuba from March 24-28.

In his presentation on bolstering global efforts against cybercrime in Vietnam, Khai highlighted the rapid rise of technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), 5G networks, and biotechnology. Citing the recent launch of China’s DeepSeek AI model, he noted that while these innovations unlock significant opportunities, they also fuel sophisticated hi-tech crimes.

Cybercriminals exploit cutting-edge tools to devise cunning, complex offenses that transcend borders, demanding robust international action, he said.

The official underlined mutual legal assistance as a vital mechanism for tackling transnational crime, aiding evidence collection and case clarification. He affirmed Vietnam’s Supreme People’s Procuracy’s intent to expand such agreements with Latin American nations and collaborate with their law enforcement agencies to curb hi-tech crime, fostering a safer and healthier global cyberspace.

The Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with Cuba’s Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office and Military Prosecutor’s Office, sharing expertise on combating hi-tech crime and exploring enhanced coordination.

Both sides pledged to strengthen cooperation mechanisms, maintain regular exchanges at leadership and operational levels, and cooperate in mutual legal assistance for investigations, evidence collection, and settlement of hi-tech crime cases.

In a separate meeting with Russia’s Deputy Prosecutor General Nikolai Vinnichenko, the two sides stressed deepening ties between their prosecutorial bodies and accelerating the signing of a bilateral agreement between their military prosecution offices./.
