ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - One Georgia lawmaker is making a last-minute push to limit the power of homeowner’s associations in Georgia ahead of the critical Friday deadline for the current legislative session.

State Sen. Donzella James is trying to get a resolution passed on her current HOA oversight bill before the deadline. The resolution would assign it to a study committee that would meet and discuss it over the next year.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner on Tuesday revealed the cause of death of an Atlanta rapper who died last week allegedly running from police.

Rapper Young Scooter, whose real name is Kenneth Bailey, “sustained a penetrating injury of his right thigh that created marked blood loss,” they said.

They are ruling his death an accident.

3 soldiers found dead after going missing in Lithuania identified

Three of the four soldiers who died after going missing in Lithuania have been identified by the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.

The four soldiers had been stationed at Georgia’s Fort Stewart.

The three soldiers have been identified as Sgt. Jose Duenez, Jr., 25, of Joliet, Illinois, Sgt. Edvin F. Franco, 25, of Glendale, California and Pfc. Dante D. Taitano, 21, of Dededo, Guam.

The fourth soldier has yet to be identified.

Mother, father die after fire destroys their Loganville home, 3 children escape

Two people died following a Saturday fire that destroyed a Loganville home, according to the Gwinnett County medical examiner.

Robert Crook, 53, and Erika Crook, 46, died after the home on Bay Cove Trail caught fire early Saturday morning. They were taken to a hospital, where they later died, the medical examiner’s office said Tuesday.

Several ground beef products recalled at Barrow County Publix

A recall was issued for several ground beef products sold at a metro Atlanta Publix.

The grocery chain issued the recall for select batches of ground beef products sold on March 26 at the store in the Vineyards Shopping Center on Highway 211 across from Chateau Elan in Braselton.

The company said the recall is for the potential of “foreign material” in the products.
