Starting soon, students in grades K-8 in the Peru Central School District will only be able to use their school devices for educational purposes, thanks to a new initiative aimed at enhancing classroom learning.
The district is introducing a “White List Only” internet access model, which will restrict student access to a specific list of approved educational websites.
This new policy, which is set to take effect on April 25, is designed to help students focus on learning by removing potential distractions.
According to Nicholas Damiani, the district’s director of technology, the move is aimed at making it easier for students to concentrate on the educational content they need to succeed.
“The goal is that we focus them towards educational content, remove some of the distractions, so they really understand the learning that needs to take place with access to those devices,” said Damiani. “The Chromebook is a tool that will help access learning and get them to the learning goals that teachers have established.”
