DAVID Brooks said the Cherries are trying hard to reignite their form and will go to West Ham on Saturday aiming to do just that after they fell to a poor defeat against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.

Brooks came off the bench with just over half an hour to play at the Vitality Stadium, with Bournemouth trailing 1-0 to the Tractor Boys after a first half Nathan Broadhead strike.

Shortly after the Welshman came on, though, Ipswich doubled their advantage through Liam Delap, and while the hosts got one back through Evanilson, they were beaten 2-1.

Speaking to the Daily Echo after the game, Brooks said the mood in the dressing room was ‘flat’ after the defeat.

“There's no one to blame but obviously ourselves and we just have to go again on the weekend.”

The Cherries saw a lot of the ball against Ipswich but lacked the final pass or finish to score when on top in different periods of the game.

Asked what went wrong on the night, Brooks said: “Obviously there's a lot of factors that go into whether we play well or not, but I think just from the get-go, I think from minute one there was just a lack of quality and it didn't really pick up throughout the game.

“It was one of those games where we knew they were going to be in a low block, so we'd have to be very good on the ball and be creative. And today it just didn't pan out that way.”

That has been a theme of Cherries games of late, the side lacking some of the clinical edge that they had had previously in the campaign.

“I think obviously once you're not in a rich vein of form, I think confidence starts to go a little bit and obviously with certain lads, I think there's obviously just trying to find and reignite some form,” Brooks said.

“But hopefully on Saturday we can play well and get the three points.”

With games coming thick and fast in the run in to the end of the Premier League season, the Cherries will hope to find some of that form this weekend at the London Stadium.

Asked if the short turnaround can benefit them after a poor performance in midweek with an opportunity to rectify it immediately, Brooks said: “Obviously it's an opportunity to put today behind us, but it's definitely not going to be an easy task to go and get three points away at West Ham.

“So, we're in training tomorrow, we’ll try to get some good work in and then whatever team he picks on Saturday, I'm sure we'll be going out to get the win.”
