A man in his 70s who died at a busy road in the city centre has been named.

Gary Huhn was said to have died from "traumatic head and chest injuries" on March 25 after an incident at Grapes Hill.

An investigation into the 72-year-old's death was opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court today.

Assistant coroner, Simon Milburn, confirmed Mr Huhn was born August 10, 1952 in Bournemouth and lived in Sussex Street roughly a mile away from where the incident occurred.

He was identified by police at Grapes Hill using a fingerprint scanner.

Coroner Milburn added investigations are ongoing and a full inquest date has been set for August 14.

Drivers were warned to avoid Grapes Hill after all lanes were shut due to incident at the footbridge at 5.38am on March 25.

Police said that emergency services had been "called to a concern for the safety of a man" in the area.

Throughout the morning emergency services, including ambulances, were seen parked underneath the bridge near the Catholic Cathedral.

Officers were seen searching through bins near the site and scouring the embankment.

One police officer was spotted picking something up off the side of the road and depositing it into a brown paper evidence bag before taping it up and stowing it in the boot of a patrol car.

At around 9.30am maintenance teams wearing fluorescent jackets power-washed part of the road directly underneath the bridge.

A police cordon was put in place on the footbridge and a section of the road remained closed until 10am.
