LIV Golf star Dustin Johnson was been given a show of support by his wife, Paulina Gretzky, as he geared up for this weekend's Saudi-backed circuit clash in South Florida. The 40-year-old arrived in Miami for the tournament with Gretzky, 36, teasing fans on social media with snapshots and a playful caption reading: "Did you miss me?".
The daughter to NHL great Wayne Gretzky, Paulina also shared an image of herself with Johnson, enjoying a moment on the fairway. The pair were seen at Trump National Doral Miami, where Johnson's team, 4Aces GC, warmed up before Friday's first round.
Johnson is the captain of the team that also features Thomas Pieters, Patrick Reed and Harold Varner III. The two-time major champion has been part of the LIV Golf movement since 2022 after reportedly being lured from the PGA Tour in a jaw-dropping $125 million deal.
In his debut LIV season, Johnson bagged upwards of $35M. Fresh from their third-place victory at Singapore's LIV event last month, Johnson's team is keen to continue their momentum heading into the Masters, reports the Irish Star.
Johnson clinched the Masters in 2020 - a year when the tournament had no fans in place due to Covid-19 restrictions. He sealed the major in style by finishing at 20-under overall, breaking the record of 18-under held by Tiger Woods in 1997 and Jordan Spieth in 2015.
Gretzky famously hugged Johnson on the Augusta National course after he secured his first-ever green jacket. "Honey, I'm forever and always your biggest fan. so proud of you," she posted on Instagram afterward.
The 2025 Masters is approaching just as Gretzky and Johnson are shaping up to celebrate their third wedding anniversary. They said their vows in April 2022 at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee, and now share two sons, Tatum and River.
The South Carolina-born golfer is currently in his third season on the LIV circuit but claimed his first major at the U.S. Open back in 2016. However, he has faced criticism recently for several lackluster performances as he entered 2025, including a disappointing stint at LIV Golf Hong Kong where he finished in last place.
But he has bounced back, and his performance in Singapore saw him finish T5. Speaking after that event, he revealed how he's now regaining form after an injury caused him to struggle in Hong Kong.
"Body feels good" he said. "Feel like I'm swinging well, moving through the ball nicely. Hitting a lot of really quality golf shots.
"I was kind of leading into Hong Kong, too, and then it was just an unfortunate situation there because I didn't really do anything to injure myself. I think I slept funny. It happens. But no, I feel good. I've got a lot of confidence in the swing."
The LIV Miami even takes place from April 4-6. Johnson will then be looking to impress at the Masters, which kicks off next Thursday, April 10.
