BANGKOK, Thailand – The weekly “Voices from Thai Ku Fah” program, hosted by Government Spokesperson Jirayu Huangsap on April 5, covered a broad range of national developments, beginning with updates on Thailand’s ongoing disaster response efforts following the March 28 earthquake. As the country moves into summer and prepares for the Songkran holidays, the government continues to prioritize public safety, investment promotion, and regional diplomacy.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra recently launched the Thailand Investment and Expat Services Center (TIESC), which offers a one-stop platform for visas and investment facilitation. The prime minister also presided over the 13th Cabinet Meeting of this year, where eight ministries were directed to strengthen national disaster preparedness. The collapsed State Audit Office building has now been classified as a Special Case under DSI investigation, and steel samples retrieved from the site have been found substandard.
The program reviewed Thailand’s hosting of the 6th BIMSTEC Summit and bilateral meetings with leaders from India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. Prime Minister Paetongtarn reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, while also welcoming Chinese automaker FAW Hongqi’s plans to open an EV production facility in Thailand by 2026. The country’s energy sector is also undergoing reform, with lower fuel and electricity prices introduced and steps taken to restructure outdated power purchase agreements.
Jirayu also addressed the premier’s handwritten message of encouragement to citizens and her support for Thailand’s agricultural express logistics network. In parallel, she met Thai-British Formula One driver Alex Albon to discuss the potential for hosting a Grand Prix using existing urban circuits. The Cabinet has approved a toll exemption on select expressways from April 11 to 17 to facilitate Songkran travel.
In closing, Jirayu announced that the Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Chiang Mai province, leading a government delegation to oversee wildfire and air pollution control efforts.
