NASSAU, Bahamas (WKRC) - An American man was found beaten to death on the shore of a island resort in the Bahamas just hours after he and his family arrived in the country.
The victim's family told news outlet Fox 5 DC that their 23-year-old son, Dinari McAlmont, went missing after talking a walk during dinner to explore the Atlantis resort that the family was staying in. They said they didn't even know anything was wrong until resort staff came to their room to ask if they knew where McAlmont was.
The family quickly started searching the resort, but filed a missing person's report after realizing his phone's location services had been turned off, per the outlet.
McAlmont's parents were contacted by police at around 1 a.m. regarding a report that their son "had spat" at someone, according to Eyewitness News Bahamas. Hours later resort staff went to the McAlmont family to tell them that Dinari was found dead on a nearby beach. Dinari's body was reportedly found within 12 hours of him and his family arriving in the Bahamas.
"My son was beaten," said Michelle McAlmont, Dinari's mother. "He was traumatized. His face is damaged. His teeth [had] a lot of froth. His hair that he normally takes so much pride in... full of sand."
No further information about the incident was released.
