Sri Lanka is positioning itself as a regional e-commerce hub following discussions with Alibaba Group and Daraz, according to Western Province Governor Hanif Yousuf.
The move follows a recent meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Alibaba Chairman Joe Tsai in Dubai.
Key reforms under discussion include launching an e-commerce channel at customs, promoting digital payments, and enabling cross-border trade.
Governor Yousuf emphasised the role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and the importance of a strong digital economy for growth and exports.
