Charlie (Lally) Ballesty, Lisdreenagh, Mostrim, Co Longford
The death occurred peacefully in the care of the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital and in the presence of his loving family on Sunday, April 13, 2025 of Charlie (Lally) Ballesty, Lisdreenagh, Mostrim, Co Longford.
Predeceased by his parents Charlie and Annie, Lally will be sadly missed by his loving wife Dympna, daughter Louise, sons Hughie, Charlie and Mark, his sister Rose Halpin, Grandchildren Gavin and Glen, daughters-in-law Elaine and Mary, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, niece, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in peace.
Reposing in Our Lady's Manor Edgeworthstown, on Tuesday evening, April 15 from 4pm with prayers from 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 16 at 12 noon in St. Mary's Church, Legan, with burial afterwards in the new cemetery. The Funeral Mass can be viewed HERE.
Colman Murtagh, Longford town, Co Longford / Limerick
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Patrick "Colman" Murtagh on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in London, England, while staying with his daughters. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was 76 years old.
Born on March 10, 1949, to Elizabeth and John Murtagh of Dublin Street, Longford, Colman brought joy and warmth to all who knew him. He dedicated many years to his trade at the Murtagh Butcher shop, a multi-generational family business that served the Longford community with distinction. A gentleman in every sense, Colman's warmth and character found a new home in New York City. There, with his beloved wife Breda of nearly 50 years, they spent over four decades building a beautiful life and raising two daughters who became the pride of his life.
In 2020, Colman retired to Curraghchase, Co. Limerick, where he enjoyed his final years.Colman leaves behind his devoted wife Breda Murtagh; his daughters Lisa FitzGerald and husband Brian, Sinéad Freeman and husband Ben; his brother Gerard Murtagh and his treasured grandchildren Tadhg, Maeve, Saoirse, Pearse, Caoimhe, Blaise, and Théa. He is also cherished by his nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins, and the many friends whose lives he touched. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to family created a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.Colman will repose at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Monday, April 14 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family, in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Friday, April 11, 2025 of Patrick Gorman Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Co Longford.
Predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his brother Gerry, sisters Alice, Nancy, Eileen, Jennie, nephews Peter, Kevin and Paul, niece Maggie. Patrick will be sadly missed by his loving family, sister-in-law Maureen and deeply regretted by nephews and nieces Chris, Gerard, Hazel, John, Joseph, Kevin, Monica, Rose and Sinead, relatives, neighbours and friends. Sean Kilemade, Longford town, Co Longford
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving children, their mother and his siblings at Oakwood Lodge Nursing Home, Dublin on Thursday, April 10, 2025 of Sean Kilemade, Longford town.
Reunited with his beloved parents John and Margaret (Peggy) Kilemade. Sean will be deeply missed by his son Robert, daughters Rhona and Leah and their mother Carmel, brothers Michael and Peter, sisters Mary, Edel, Ann and Rita, brothers-in-law Tom, Philip and Eunan, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The death occurred peacefully in her 100th year, in the wonderful care of the staff at Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, April 12, 2025 of Eileen Casey (née Geoghegan), Ballagh, Newtowncashel, Co Longford and formerly of Cornaher, Tyrrellspass.
Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Michael (Tally), by her brothers Pat Joe and Seamus and by her sisters Josie, Maura, Madeline, Esther, and Rosaleen. Eileen will be very sadly missed by her loving children Donal, Regina, Micheál, Raymond, and Ann, her adored grandchildren Evin, Maria, Claire, Fiona, Stewart, Luke, Orla, Niamh, Alva, Rebecca, and Helena; her darling great-grandchild Indi, her loving brother Kieran (Tyrrellspass), loving sister Christine McGurran (Kilkenny), daughters-in-law Caroline, Lucy, and Gaye; granddaughter-in-law Michele and by her extended family, neighbours, and friends. John McGuinness, Artane, Dublin / Coolarty, Longford
The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Saturday, April 12, 2025 of John McGuinness, Artane, Dublin and formerly of Coolarty, Co Longford. Late of Department of Agriculture. John was cared for in his home by his family and spent his final days in St Francis Hospice, Raheny.
Predeceased by his parents Stephen Snr. and Marcella. Beloved husband, father and adored grandfather. John will be very sadly missed by his wife Lorraine, daughter Josie and son John. Son-in-law Paul Maguire and daughter-in-law-to-be Sinéad Whooley. Granddaughters Olivia and Georgia, brothers and sisters Geraldine Halton (Cavan), Margaret and Mary, Stephen, Al and Pat (USA), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, many friends and good neighbours. Marguerite Staunton (née Murphy), Silverlawn, Navan, Meath / Longford town, Co Longford
The death occurred on Monday, April 14, 2025 of Marguerite Staunton (nee Murphy), Silverlawn, Navan, Co. Meath and formerly Ballymahon Street, Longford town. Retired school teacher of Beaufort College and Dunshaughlin Community College.
Predeceased by her husband Liam, parents Frank and Margaret, sisters Celia and Johanna, brothers Frankie and Eugene. Peacefully after a long illness at Carechoice Trim. She will be sadly missed by her sons Emmet and David, daughter Joanne, grandchildren Emmet, Alanna, Éanín, Katie, Isabelle, Aoden and Maeve, brothers in law Tommy (Donlon), Tom and Gerard, sister in law Jean (MacGearailt), nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred suddenly at Cavan General Hospital on Friday, April 11, 2025 of Thomas Reilly, Carrigan, Ballinagh, Co Cavan and formerly Newbridge, Co Kildare.
Pre-deceased by his parents Kevin and Clare Reilly. The death occurred peacefully in his 99th year in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda on Friday, April 11, 2025 after being cared for in Blackrock Abbey Nursing Home of Fr. Cathal Cumiskey, C.Ss.R. St Joseph's Monastery, Dundalk and formerly of Mohill, Co. Leitrim.
Predeceased by his siblings Fr. PJ (New Zealand), Maura (Faughnan), John and Michael. He will be sadly missed by his sister Teasie Reynolds (Dublin), his nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, extended family relatives, his Redemptorist confreres and wide circle of friends. Reposed at St. Joseph's Monastery Dundalk (A91 F3FC) on Saturday afternoon, April 12 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm and on Sunday morning, April 13 from 10am with removal to St. Joseph's Church at 5pm. Anita Doyle (née Duke), Claremorris, Mayo / Strokestown, Roscommon
The recent death has occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the Sonas nursing home Knock surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 12, 2025 of Anita Doyle (nee Duke) Claremorris, Mayo/ Strokestown, Roscommon.
Predeceased by her husband Denis Doyle, Parents Patrick and Annie Jane Duke, brothers Aidan and Damien. Deeply regretted by her heartbroken family, sister Mari Conaghan, brother Bernard Duke, brother-in-law Paul Conaghan Sister-in-law Marie Duke, nieces Anita Phillips and Aoife Duke, nephews Brian Duke, Dara Duke and Coman Duke, relatives, neighbours and friends. Michael Kellegher, Annaghmacooleen, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim / Cloone, Leitrim / Ballinteer, Dublin
The death occurred on Thursday, April 10, 2025 of Michael Kellegher, Inver Gael, Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim. Michael was born and raised in Annaghmacooleen, Cloone, Co Leitrim and he then spent a large portion of his adult life working for Eir in Dublin and raising his children.
Michael is predeceased by his late father Michael. Michael will be sadly missed by his children; Molly and Patrick, mother; Esther, siblings; Tom, Brendan, Donal, Joe, Anne, Eamonn, Mel, mother of his children; Anne, brother in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends and his many work colleagues in Eir. May Michael’s Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.
Michael’s remains will repose at Smith’s Funeral Home, High Street Ballinamore, Co Leitrim on Monday evening, April 14 from 5pm – 8pm. A celebration of Michael’s life will take place on Tuesday, April 15 at 3pm in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin road Cavan followed by cremation afterwards.
