CHIÈVRES, Belgium -- U.S. Army Garrison Benelux employees gathered for Organization Day Sept. 22 in Chièvres, Belgium. More than 150 people participated in the event. The objective was to build camaraderie among the employees.
Col. Kurt Connell, garrison commander, opened the event and spoke about the organization's accomplishments at the auditorium in Caserne Daumerie. The attendees were then split into teams to participate in a scavenger hunt.
After the scavenger hunt, employees gathered at the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation's Community Activity Center on Chièvres Air Base for a barbecue luncheon. Aftewards, employees played sports and other activities to compete for the first Commander's Cup.
Isaac A. Bermudez, general engineer at the Directorate of Public Works, came in first place.
"This is the second time I participated in the Organization Day, and it was more fun this time around," Bermudez said. "It was a fun-filled day where I met new people and was able to interact with others I don't see on a regular basis. The cup was a nice addition and incentive to compete. It also served as a good topic to initiate conversations with others as we were competing," he concluded.
