The Head of UNOCA recalls the commitment of the United Nations to the Territorial Integrity and Unity of Cameroon

The United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) continues to closely monitor the situation in the North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon. UNOCA is particularly concerned by the upsurge of violence, especially against the civilian population and State agents, including the defense and security forces, several members of whom have lost their lives in the course of attacks perpetrated against them in various localities of these two regions.

“We strongly condemn those acts of violence. Their authors should be identified and brought before a court in accordance with the law”, underlines Mr. François Louncény Fall, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Africa and Head of UNOCA, who presents his condolences to the bereaved families.

Mr. François Louncény Fall seizes this opportunity to recall the commitment of the United Nations to the territorial integrity and unity of Cameroon. He also invites the various parties to resolve their differences through peaceful means. In this respect, he reiterates his call for calm and restraint, while also encouraging the holding of an inclusive dialogue.

UNOCA reiterates the readiness of the United Nations to provide the support that the Cameroonian parties deem necessary for a peaceful and lasting solution to the current crisis.
