Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has sent a message to the Reds supporters who remain stranded in Portugal after the 5-0 Champions League victory over Porto.

Many fans have faced travel chaos after the match as thick fog forced several flights home to be cancelled.

The Liverpool Echo report that supporters in Porto have been told that they will have to remain in the city until Friday.

Some 3,200 Reds fans made the trip for the last-16, first leg tie, and were rewarded with a handsome victory featuring a hat-trick from Sadio Mane.

Henderson - who is now with the Reds squad on a break in Marbella - posted a picture of a Liverpool flag on Instagram, along with the words: "The lads are aware hundreds of our supporters have experienced big difficulties and disruption in getting home from Porto.

"For everyone who made the journey - we hope you get home safe and sound and as quickly as is possible.

"The support last night was amazing - we never take it for granted.

"Safe travels. YNWA."

Several Instagram users supported the message, with one writing "well said skip", and another adding "This is my captain".
