Ag startups can apply for second Iowa AgriTech Accelerator class

Ag tech startups have until April 2nd to apply for a spot in the Iowa AgriTech Accelerator.

Executive director Megan Vollstedt says the program can help a new business get off the ground.

“We provide seed funding for their business, mentorship and housing, so that we can really help to get their business in a much better place than what they could do on their own.  Mentors aid in their product development, market fit, and other business areas.”

Speaking to Brownfield at Commodity Classic last month, Vollstedt says year two of the Accelerator will feature a shortened timeline.

“Our classes in 2018 will be May 29th through August 30th.  (that way) it doesn’t overlap with harvest and is between that and spring planting.  So our teams, if they are working with beta testing or (with) clients in the field, they can focus on that and we won’t interfere.”

The AgriTech Accelerator seeks to connect industry mentors with early-stage companies focused on agricultural innovation.
