A man has died after falling into the water at a fish farm in the Highlands.

A major rescue operation was launched after the alarm was raised at Loch Shieldaig, near Torridon in Wester Ross, about 8.30am.

The 63-year-old’s body was later pulled from the sea loch.

Police said: “The man’s body was recovered from the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Tragedy also struck at Buckie harbour in Moray when a woman died after falling into the sea on Monday night.

Believed to be Lithuanian, the woman in her 60s is thought to have been fishing from the pier.
