Star & Key makes its debut in Germany with two expressions

The distribution deal with Eggerssohn launched in March 2025, introducing the Mauritian rum brand to Germany for the first time.

Star & Key rums are produced at the Labourdonnais Estate, where they are distilled from freshly pressed sugarcane juice from sugarcane harvested from the estate’s fields.

Launched in 2024 by Cobblestone Brands, Star & Key rums are said to capture the island’s climate and rich agricultural heritage.

Susanne Scheichl, managing director at Eggerssohn, said: “Star & Key embodies craftsmanship, tradition, and authenticity, making it a perfect fit for our portfolio of exceptional spirits.”

Star & Key will make its debut in Germany with two expressions: VSOP and Passion Fruit Rum.

The brand’s VSOP is aged in toasted ex-Cognac French oak casks for a minimum of four years.

Bottled one cask at a time, the expression showcases notes of toffee, vanilla, nutmeg, and honeycomb, complemented by cinnamon, oak, and orange chocolate on the finish.

Star & Key Passion Fruit Rum, on the other hand, is matured for two years in Cognac and Bourbon casks and infused with fresh passion fruit grown in the estate’s orchards.

The infused rum displays notes of vanilla, orchard fruits, green apple, mango, melon, crème brûlée and brown sugar.

Gary McLoughlin, marketing director of Star & Key, noted that Germany has an “incredible spirits culture”.

He added: “We have worked with Eggerssohn previously and couldn’t ask for a better partner to bring the Star & Key story to life in this market.”

The launch in Germany follows the brand’s entries into the US, Belgium, and Luxembourg last year.

At The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2024, Star & Key VSOP was recognised with two Master medals.
